Informed Consent DangersInformed consent dangers Informed consent is some kind formal information given to the concerned person about the facts that he has to be refreshed with. When information like this is given through legal bodies such as courts, judiciaries etc it is called an Informed consent. There are certain procedures to give this kind of consents. At first the individual to whom this consent is being issued, must be aware of relevant facts about the consent, the faculties from where the consent is being issued and the future consequences which he has to face must be known. When a person is being given consent without any information, especially at the time of reasoning or judgment might lead to severe after effects such as mental retardation, severe sleep deprivation, Alzheimer’s disease or even it can take the person to coma.
But this kind of legal consents lose their effectiveness when some acts are performed without the knowledge of the authorities. In such cases the Informed consent can be given later by the legal guardian of the client or by their children. But this consent goes unnoticed during emergency cases where the person is severely injured the doctors without any reason start giving the treatment. When people who come and admit someone in the hospital and are being given an insufficient consent, only then serious ethical issues arise. This leads to police cases and other after effects for receiving such consent. But presently a committee called ethics committee or Institutional review Board prevents such cases.
